Dinner and a movie is a tried and true date combo, but if you’re looking to add variety to your date-night repertoire, partner dancing is a great way to connect and spend time with that special someone. At Go Dance, we think dancing makes everything better, but don’t just take our word for it…
Attesting to the timelessness of learning to sway with your sweetie, Redbook magazine listed “Learn to Dance” second on their list: “Top 50 Date Night Ideas of All Time“.
If the New York Times is more your speed, author Tara Parker-Pope has got some news you can use too, from an article on keeping date nights fresh in longterm relationships: “Brain and behavior researchers say many couples are going about date night all wrong. Simply spending quality time together is probably not enough to prevent a relationship from getting stale.”
A slew of scientists and analysts have done studies and experiments on the subject. The solution they suggested, says Parker-Pope? “Reinventing date night.” A study cited put participant couples in three groups, one being prescribed “exciting” date nights, including dancing. This group reported “increased marital satisfaction.” Not a surprise to us!
Whether or not you want to get scientific about it, we invite you to visit our studios and count the smiles. It’s nearly impossible to come into a social dance environment without feeling more connected to others! If there’s someone special in your life and you want share an exciting time learning something new together, why not take date night dancing for a spin?
