Welcome to the Go Dance Blog!

Hello Go Dance Community! This is Bridget Ellis, a Go Dance instructor and now Go Dance Blogger, who is excited to bring a new feature to you, our Go Dancers! Today I bring you the first post in a new blog made especially for our Go Dance community. With these posts, I hope to educate you through video tutorials, performance and competition routines, interviews, essays, tips of the trade and more, all of which hopefully will inspire you to keep on learning, pushing your limits, and finding the sense of humor and fun in dance as well as life. I hope to provide helpful insight about my own journey with dance as well as the other Go Dance instructors, visiting professionals, and your fellow students. I encourage you to send me questions, comments, and feedback. I want to enable you to be a part of this experience! Challenge me, joke with me, and enjoy the art of creating while being a part of our community. So, let's get to it!

Having been part of this crazy dance world for the last 14 years, the single biggest thing I appreciate is what I previously mentioned, community. Dance can be a very scary thing to do, whether you are a social or competitive dancer, are brand new to the dance world, or you have tons of experience and training. I remember going to my first Salsa congress in Puerto Rico; I thought I wasn't too shabby a dancer (for a girl from North Dakota Smile), had a few years of experience under my belt, and walked onto the dance floor to a whole new world. The music was awesome, the dancers were fabulous, and I almost turned around and walked back to my hotel room, with my head hanging down in shame. But, I watched my friends and fellow dancers get out there ... they took that first tentative step onto the dance floor and yes, eventually, so did I. From that first step, to performances and competitions, to falling on my tuckus right in the middle of the social dance floor, my fellow dancers were always there to laugh with me, give me valuable feedback, but mostly to be my constant cheerleaders. Where else do we find that in life? So, embrace this community with me. Let's get to know each other, laugh, cry, and cheer each other on!! Wooo hooo!!!

Hey Go Dance Blog Lady,
Something I would love to see, and maybe you already have it and I just cannot find it, would be song lists by dance type and class level. For example there would be lists for Two-Step Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3. Or maybe it would be a single list for two step with class level indicated. Same for the other dances. I'll bet the happy dancers at Go Dance would readily offer their suggestions.

We would love to see hints and tips on fun questions we should ask our teachers, things teachers particularly appreciate, and what it's like to be a teacher; you all must have infinite patience!
