Laura is one of Argentina's top Argentine Tango Instructors. She lived and studied Tango in Buenos Aires for several years with the top Tango dancers dancers of Argentina before bringing her wealth of knowledge back to Austin where she now teaches. She returns to Argentina every year to bring back the latest fashions of Comme il Faut shoes from Buenos Aires.

Latin Jazz

Latin Jazz is an exciting dance style that contains technical Jazz skills and Ballet, while fusing the Afro-Caribbean dance styles of Cuba, Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic. Class begins with basic isolations intermixed with Cuban/Latin motions set in a traditional jazz/ballet structure, that works on student's coordination, strength and flexibility. Dance combinations will strengthen dancers awareness of musicality, space, timing and precision.  Class is open to all levels and all students- dress comfortably (i.e. yoga, etc) and bring along socks/bare feet or your dance/jazz/character shoes.

Spinning Technique for Salsa Dancers

Most of Salsa dancing revolves around spinning our bodies across the floor or on one single spot and usually on one single foot. In this workshop, Azucena Perez will cover some of the fundamentals of spinning technique as it applies to Salsa dancing. You will learn how to properly position your feet, shoulders, torso, back, and arms before you take off for that perfect turn. In addition, Azucena will walk you through drills to help you improve your balance, spotting, speed, and overall spinning ability so you can practice and improve your turns ten fold!

With no group classes this week and workshops out of the way, we thought some social dancing was in order. Join Go Dance and the Austin City Dance Club at their Fifth Week Party for a night of mostly WC Swing dancing, with a little Two Step and Hustle dancing thrown in as well.
