Richard Dugger was born and raised in Houston, Texas. He was exposed to dance in middle school and began taking partner dance lessons with his mother (it's quite sweet, we know). Early on, he knew he loved dancing and that if he were to become a professional, he'd never get bored. Richard is determined to be the best that he can be, and his extensive accomplishments as both a dancer and an instructor are a true reflection of that fact.
Richard has been teaching since 2001. He has worked at Go Dance since 2005 and is the instructor Staff Manager. He was the 2008 American Country Dance Association Division One National Champion, the 2009 UCWDC Division One World Champion, the 2009 Nashville Starz Open Professional Country Champion, and the 2010 UCWDC Classic Masters World Champion. Richard has such a passion for teaching and dancing, his students can't help but be enthusiastic too.
I love inspiring people to step outside of the box, beyond their comfort zone, and try something new.
As a result of his thorough instruction and technique, Richard is always in demand. Richard teaches with endless patience, attention to detail, and an adaptable teaching style based on each student's personality. Dance has changed Richard's life for the better, and he wants to share that experience with his students. Don't be surprised if you leave his group classes wishing that they had never ended!
