Although born in Tustin, California, Mike Hack was raised in wonderful Austin Texas. He grew up surrounded by music. His years of music training in school have given him a strong sense of rhythm and musicality that strengthen his versatility as an instructor.
When Mike had to learn a wedding party dance for his best friend's wedding, he knew there was something special about dancing that intrigued him. He began partner dancing by learning the Waltz, started teaching in 2006, and joined Go Dance in 2009. Mike enjoys all styles of dance, because each dance has unique characteristics that make the movement special. Mike enjoys performing and social dancing with students of all levels doing a wide variety of dances from the elegant Waltz to the peppy Swing and Cha Cha.
Whichever dance brings the most joy to the student I'm dancing with becomes my favorite dance at that moment.
Mike loves teaching so much that he is currently pursuing the path to become a school teacher! Mike takes the concepts he's learning in his school teacher training and translates them into his dance lessons, making him an even more versatile and effective instructor. Due to his musical background, Mike naturally helps his students find their inner rhythm, teaching them to match their movements to any type of music. Mike feels rewarded by the joy he sees in his students' faces when a dance step they have been working on finally "clicks." He teaches with precise technique, patience, and a delightful attitude that always makes dancing fun. For Mike, teaching isn't just about helping students meet their goals, but about self-discovery.
