Amanda Cardona was born in New York and raised in the Bronx. She began taking Ballet and Tap classes at three. As she grew up, Amanda also trained in Jazz, Pointe, Lyrical, and Hip-Hop. Throughout her time in NY, she attended a local Bronx Salsa club every Sunday night. Over time, she danced at many Latin clubs famous for their music and Salsa On2 dancing. She fell in love with all aspects of Salsa, and has been partner dancing since 1997.

In addition to Amanda's extensive background in Club Latin and solo dance styles, she competed in International Style 10 Dance as an amateur. Amanda is a well-rounded dancer, as the International Style 10 dances are the Jive, Samba, Cha Cha, Rumba, Paso Doble, Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Viennese Waltz, and Quickstep. Amanda also loves the Hustle, and since she moved to Texas, she couldn't help but add Two Step to her dance repertoire. She is also a member and co-founder of Collective Essence, an all ladies Latin performance group currently performing around Austin and at Congresses all over the world. You can catch Amanda dancing in Showcase with Collective Essence, or hosting Latin workshops! Amanda appreciates dance for its technicality and creativity. Her extensive experience and appreciation for dance make her a thorough and uplifting instructor.

I love the light bulb effect; you spend so long working on something, and one day, it just clicks. It's very similar to learning a new language.

Amanda's disciplined nature, strong technical background, creative flair, and advanced sense of musicality give her a special understanding of dance and rhythm. She helps students reach their full dancing potential while keeping things light-hearted. As her students get past the basics, Amanda focuses on tiny styling details that transform a student's dancing from good to great! Amanda's always smiling, because she enjoys sharing the beauty and creativity of dance with her students. With Amanda for an instructor, any person can dance socially!
