Tess Dun was born in Houston, Texas and raised in Tarkington, Texas. Tess grew up taking dance classes and always had an affinity for movement. She studied Ballet, Tap, and Jazz for six years and took Pointe for two. Thanks to her Ballet training, partner dancing came easily for her; knowing how to spot makes turning a much smoother process! Since dance was always such a passion of hers, teaching dance later in life and delving even further into movement was a natural next step.
After Tess took a brief break from dancing, she realized just how much she missed it. In 2010, she delved into partner dancing for something fun and new. She began learning Latin and American Smooth dances first, and those same dances remain her favorites today. Nothing makes her heart sing like dancing the Foxtrot to Frank Sinatra! She loves progressing as a dancer and remembers the feeling of accomplishment once she began following instinctively without having to think about the placement of her body. Tess enrolled in teacher training at Go Dance in 2011, and has been teaching ever since!
I can't think of anything I'd rather do more than be able to give someone the joy that dancing gives me.
Tess teaches with enthusiasm and clarity and enjoys getting to know her students. She loves showing her students that anyone can learn to dance! Her lessons are always fun yet productive. Tess approaches teaching with the utmost professionalism and is a great listener. She focuses on the specifics of technique in order to fine-tune her students' dancing while keeping things light-hearted.
