Alice Gray was born and raised in none other than Austin, Texas. She started taking Ballet, Tap, and Jazz at age six. She apprenticed at Tapestry Dance Company, where she learned about the professional dance world. She later spent a year in Spain studying Ballet, where she grew accustomed to various styles of dancing, teaching, and learning.
In 2009, a friend convinced Alice to try partner dancing. She first learned Salsa and fell in love immediately! Alice decided to pursue her love of partner dancing further when she signed up for the Go Dance teacher training in 2011. She became a Go Dance instructor the same year and has been teaching ever since! Her favorite dances are Salsa for its spinning, movement, and music, as well as the rhythmic Bachata, the fun and energetic Lindy, Two Step, and Triple Two (she did grow up in Texas, of course!).
I love being in a studio full of students who are spending hours and hours attending dance classes each week, all while smiling the entire time.
When it comes to teaching, Alice understands what it's like from the student's perspective. She knows the importance of being attentive, and trusting in oneself to learn the material. Alice is always patient and approachable. She understands that dance can be intimidating, and wants to be sure her students know that questions are always welcome! Alice is very methodical and organized by nature, and will help her students come up with the perfect individualized plan to make them better dancers. She enjoys taking material students are uncertain about and clarifying the movement. Alice genuinely believes that everyone can benefit from dancing, and she loves watching her students progress!
