Roxanne Baker was born and raised in Bryan College Station, Texas. It was destiny that she leave Aggie town to become a Longhorn! She asked her mom to start taking dance classes as soon as she could talk and finally began taking Ballet and Tap classes at age two and a half. By age seven, she began taking Jazz, Hip-Hop, and Lyrical classes also. As she grew older, she added Contemporary, Pointe, and Musical Theatre into the mix.
She received of a Bachelor of Arts in Dance and a Bachelor of Arts in English from the University of Texas at Austin. Although Roxanne spent most of her life dancing, she didn't begin partner dancing until 2011 when she started working for Go Dance. Roxanne was always intrigued by partner dancing and was very excited to join the Go Dance Client Services Administrative Staff. Aside from helping Go Dance staff and students, she also handles the writing at Go Dance. We like to refer to her as our "Word Savvy" employee. When she has down time, she jumps into as many group classes as she can. She feels very honored to be able to dance and write in such a wonderfully supportive, healthy, and happy environment!
Roxanne has a passion for dance, and she loves working with people! For her, dance is an outlet for every emotion. Dance is such an art that anything in life, good or bad, can be translated into movement. She loves talking to students and meeting new people who love dance just as much as she does. Roxanne aka Roxy, smiles at everyone she meets and wants to make every student's experience at Go Dance as positive and enthusiastic as possible. If for some reason you don't encounter Roxanne behind the front desk, you shouldn't be surprised to see her in group classes grinning from ear to ear (literally!).
Quote: "Dance to me is freeing, therapeutic, creative, and beautiful. My life wouldn't be complete without it!"
