Bridget Ellis was born and raised in North Dakota. She grew up in an environment where learning was encouraged, as she spent many years in gymnastics and took dance classes in various styles such as Jazz and Hip-Hop. Bridget's passion for learning and people in general are part of what make her such a wonderful instructor.
In 1998, Bridget saw an advertisement in a local newspaper for teacher training. Since her love of dance had already been instilled, learning to be an instructor was all it took to get her addicted to the art of teaching. In order to hone her dancing and teaching skills within the Ballroom and Social Dance world, Bridget traveled extensively to train with the top Salsa and Social Latin professionals worldwide. As a result of her intense training, she was the 2007 Carnaval de Rumba Champion as well as the Colorado Salsa Champion. With Bridget's vast teaching experience, she is able to adapt to any student's learning style. Bridget ran her own teaching business and studio in Denver, Colorado for eight years and joined Go Dance in 2010, giving her 13 years of teaching experience.
I joke with my students a lot to keep things light-hearted while we're working hard at getting good.
With a dedicated academic background, Bridget is very focused and determined. Although she considers herself a laid back person, she expects her students to give their best effort. Bridget's always smiling and keeps learning fun yet productive. She makes her students feel comfortable and easily connects with them, as she incorporates her own learning experiences, good and bad, into her teaching. Humor is a common tool used in Bridget's teaching, as she believes the best dancing occurs within a relaxed setting.
